Day Of Details:

Please plan on arriving at by 8:00 AM, this will allow us to kick off the first hunts at 8:30 AM.  We will run two fields (A & B) and will conduct 10 (2 member) hunts during the day.  Each hunt will last 1 hour with a 15-minute break between hunts to allow bird planting.  Bird planters will plant 6 cock pheasant and 4 chukars in each field. We will break for lunch between 12:15 and 1:15 PM.  We will restart hunts again at 1:15 PM.  This should allow us to finish both fields by 4:00 PM.

If you have a female dog in season, please let me know and we will arrange for you to run with another female in one of the last hunts of the day.  An area will be established for airing out your dogs

Remember you will need a Missouri Small Game License.  Current state licenses are good through the end of February 2018.  For folks living in Illinois/Kansas you can purchase a one-day out of state Missouri license for $11.00 on line.  Kids under 16 years of age are not required to have a license this applies to Missouri and Illinois residents.

We will have prizes for the top three teams, based on total points accrued during the hunt.  A total of 6 cock pheasant and 4 chukars will be released in each field for each hunt.  One extra pheasant will be placed in each of the fields for the first hunt.  Each pheasant bagged will count as 10 points and chukars will be 5 points. For each hunt one cock bird will be tagged and will count for 15 points.  Example:  If a team bags its 10 birds (6 pheasant & 4 chukar) including one tagged cock bird they will accrue 85 points.  In case there are ties in the scoring process we will flip a coin.

Food & Drink:

We will deep fry pheasant & chukar breast strips for our meat portion of our lunch.  We ask that each participant bring a side dish for lunch, home made or store purchased.  We will have donuts and coffee available for breakfast and will keep the coffee pot cranked up during the day.  Bring your own drinks for use during the day.  The consumption of alcohol will be limited to the end of the day following the hunt.  You may want to bring a lawn/camp chair to set around the fire and enjoy your lunch or a beer after the hunt.
